I have noticed that I have a little catching up to do and my first choice for a blog post was to share some of my favorite images from our vacation!
We set off in the end of June for the Oregon coast. We made several memorable stops along the way, but I want to first share some goodies from our visit to the Oregon Zoo.
After a fair amount more driving we arrived at the beach house that Matthew's mom was so amazing to rent out for all of us to stay in. We were the first ones to arrive on Monday, Jon & Brandi and their 3 on Tuesday, then finally Tim & Lori on Wednesday. That Tuesday when it was just me and my little family is a day that will stick in my mind forever. I didn't want it to end! The weather was amazing. The sights were amazing. The company was out of this world! THE. BEST. DAY. EVER!

Aunt Kathy gave this pinwheel to Anna when we were in Spokane on our way to the beach. |
After leaving on Thursday, we visited the Flavel House Museum as well as a couple of other museums in Astoria, OR. I highly recommend visiting that gorgeous little city! So much to see and not to mention, it is beautiful. I wish we could have spent more time, but I was very glad we stopped.
At the end of a very long day, we made the necessary stop at Multnomah Falls. All I can say is,
"1. What an amazing spectacle!" and "2. Holy cow my family is patient!"
Next stop, Orofino, ID with a brief detour in Pendleton, OR. Orofino is a TINY little town nestled in the mountains on the Clearwater River. This is where we spent a relaxing 4th of July... Except we didn't make it to see the fireworks. The long days of driving and excitement were catching up with all of us.

Pendleton, Oregon. Home to the coolest park ever!! |
|
The hotel (I can't remember the name for the life of me)
in Orofino had this cool old elevator. You had to shut the metal gate for it to move! |

The view from the top... of the mining road outside of town. |

"Mom, what's this?" |
The next morning we had a nice visit over breakfast with a couple from California and that is when we planned our next vacation to San Francisco! After leaving Orofino, we followed the Clearwater River all the way to the other side of the Rockies and on home!

Lives up to its name I would say! |
